Date Night

Well we don't have regular date nights like the title might suggest, but we had a great time on a date tonight. We went ice skating at the National Gallery of Art in the Sculpture Garden. It was the most beautiful night and we hardly needed our jackets. When we got off the Metro it was so quiet and peaceful on the National Mall with a practically warm breeze blowing . Only a few runners passed us but we were pretty much on our own to enjoy the beautiful scenery that was 360 degrees around us. The Washington Monument and the Capital stood out so amazingly all lit up against the night sky. We arrived at the charming skating rink and were happy to see that there were people even more timid than us. Neither of us have skated in years. It almost felt like we were on a cheesy chick flick as we passed the National Archives while we skated. We had so much fun together and had a great time reading old text messages on the metro ride home.

We just took our little half broken camera, otherwise we might have gotten better pictures of the buildings and monuments.

Sounds so exotic to be skating near all those great monuments. Looked like you had a a great time!

WOW! That sounds so fun. It's great that you can be spontaneous and do fun things when we live so close to cool places. Jake and I are lazy about stuff like that and hardly even go to DC. Somehow, we have made it to New York several times . . . but that's another story.

That is like a movie! How fun to live by all those awesome, historical places. And how great that you actually take atvantage of those things while you are there. I think Dad said he never went to the Statue of Liberty while he was on his mission! I guess he just thought he had plenty of time, but you never know!

That sounds like a perfect date. Have you two watched Mr Smith goes to Washington lately? We watched it last weekend and loved how inspired Jimmy Stewart's character is by the monuments.

Definitely one of the best places in DC. Paul *almost* kissed me for the first time there. It's a romantic little spot!
