Why is it. . .

that when you are up most of the night with the kids, all you can think about is sleeping? And then, when they are finally, miraculously all asleep, your eyes are stuck wide open. It just figures. I gotta hand it to my brothers, their wives, and my parents for helping us through a very difficult night. Reflux is no fun. Crying before, after, and during feedings can really drive a person crazy. Do I see a dairy-less diet in my future? For better sleep, I'll try anything.

kylee has reflux but it never really hurt her much she just would spew everything up like once a day normally just like you said he does! have you tried proping him up a little when he sleeps and also is he on any medicine? My dr put kylee on some acid reflux medicine and it seemed to help quite a bit. and by four months she was off of it and doing so much better. The other thing i did was put a couple Tablespoons of rice cereal in her bottle. Some suggestions if you want to try! :)

My kids had colic (not reflux) the Dr. gave me Hyosyne drops (or Hyosamine/Levsin--different name brands). It helps with the stomach cramping. Works miracles. I couldn't have dairy for a long time until these lovely drops came along.

Merry Christmas!

Good luck. That's the pits. Tell your family they will have eternal blessings for all the help they give you.

Hi Emily, You don't know me but I came across your blog from a friend of yours (also named Emily). I know doctors don't always tell you things they should so....if the reflux meds aren't working, you may need a change in formula. The twins I babysit have switched to Soy first and then to Alimentum. They did fine on Soy but it "stopped them up". On Alimentum they still spit up some, but before they were spitting up blood! Now they are doing much better. Just something to look in to :) Also, instead of laying flat for naps and at night, try either a Tucker Sling or a Nap Nanny--I highly recommend both of them! I can probably even get you one for you to try before you spend a lot of money on one!

ARG! That is the WORST! To be totally, totally sleep deprived and not able to sleep!

Eli had reflux and what a nightmare that was. The meds didn't dent his condition and he ended up on pulmicort to take care of a respiratory problem that developed from it. He hardly slept for his first 6 months. (And I mean that literally.) But he's been a dream baby since he grew out of it!
