It ends today.

I’m so behind in the ways of music (among other things), it’s embarrassing. Really, this isn’t something I like to admit. For some reason when I’m alone in the car, I turn on the news or nothing at all. And when I do turn on the radio, it isn’t the least enticing to me. How did this happen? I guess I might have been a bit preoccupied with other things these past couple years to keep up with things like this. It’s time to catch up. My CDs are ridiculously outdated. I mean, there are some classics I’ll always love, but I need some NEW MATERIAL! (You know you’re desperate for something to listen to when you decide to pop in your old BBMak CD you got in high school, and it wasn’t even cool back then. I’m seriously pathetic. I mean, does anyone even listen to CDs anymore?!) There is no excuse for this with music being so readily available these days. And one could go crazy listening to toddler tunes all day. I have to get these Signing Time songs out of my head, and soon!

So here’s my request for any music savvy friends willing to help a poor music-deprived girl out: Could you please tell me who your favorite artist is? And if you’re feeling especially generous, name your favorite album and/or song? Maybe you can get me on the track to a new and improved playlist to clean the kitchen to. The babies and I have also been enjoying dance parties lately, and some new music to groove to would be much appreciated. Let’s see what you’ve got for me!

And if anybody suggests Rebecca Black’s “Friday”, you need suggestions more than I do!

Adele and Brandon Flowers (The Killers) are my current favs :) But I TOTALLY agree... in general, I am soooo stuck in the late 90's/early 2000's music, it's pathetic. Crazy how quickly we became the old people, right?

"We we we so excited. We so excited."

Here are my recent favorites (subject to taste):

Michael Buble
Jason Mraz
Kelly Clarkson
Maroon 5
Kris Allen

And of course I've always loved Josh (not so much his latest, alas), Mika and BNL. Let me know what you decide on and you know I have an extensive iTunes library, just let me know if you have any questions or need anything. :)

I shouldn't even comment because I am in the same boat. I listen mostly to country, and you don't like that right?
Anyway - I will say Michael Buble is great, love his most recent album.

Great suggestions already!

Sar, I have changed my ways with Country. A couple years ago, it was all I listened to for like a year. Good stuff. Aren't you proud? And I can never get enough of Michael. Thanks for recommending the new album!

Drew, I knew you'd have a list for me. I'll have to delve more into M.5 and K.A. The others I know well. Mika is a new fave, for sure.

And Jana, I tried Brandon Flowers today, and LOVE it. Thanks! I'll have to try Adele soon as I've heard snippets of her soulful singing. Thanks for the reminder.

This is going to be a GREAT playlist!

Ha!! this is too funy, only because I have been finding myself in the same place lately...my playlist hasn't changed in about 7 years. lame!

Sadly, I have nothing to add, but will gladly expand my horizons with some of the music that is being mentioned!

Coldplay! Any Coldplay is good, but if you want something more on the fun side, I recommend Viva La Vida. Other than that, I have trouble making recommendations because I often just love a song or two from a particular artist instead of a full CD.

Here are a few suggestions: High Violet by The National, The Avett Brothers, Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons, Regina Spektor, Strict Joy by The Swell Season (the duo from Once), Mates of State. Yes to Brandon Flowers and Adele
Maybe I should just pass along my favorite playlists...which I usually get from Kate. A lot if it my kids love too.

Yes Christina, pass the playlists over! I'm intrigued by everything you mentioned. I can always count on you guys when it comes to music.

And Felicity, I am now a Lady Antebellum fan. I will be purchasing some of their stuff asap. And I have perused your blog as well. You're welcome to come by the blog anytime!

I LOVE the Weepies. They are cheerful and spunky. I also like Ingrid michaelson and Dave barnes, Joshua reeves and Ben rector. They're all kinda mellow but fun. Good luck!

Oh Emily, you know I am even more clueless than you. Let me know if any of the suggestions are worth me trying out! Right now we are just listening to the Little Mermaid soundtrack every day in the car. As much as I love it (and I really do), we may need to branch out. And I don't just mean to the Tangled soundtrack!

You got some good comments. The only only other group I'd say is probably Florence and the Machine, and maybe One Republic and Roisin Murphy. But sometimes you ahve to be in the mood. I will have more music after this season of SYTYCD. It's the only place I get new music.
