So there is a silver lining to this whole election catastrophe. Prop. 8 passed in California! So there is a reason to rejoice among the madness. Hooray for protecting our families. I need to have some hope for my children's future, and this really helps. Thank you, honorable people of California for standing up. This is a great blessing. I'm relieved.

It was quite a huge confidence booster to know we are not alone. More than half of California is on our side.
Now, how to get them to stop protesting around the Oakland temple... I am confused as to what even will that do? Whatever.
Amen. If I had to choose Obama and Prop 8 or McCain and no Prop 8 - I probably would have chosen this way. At least we can have faith in congress/house?

Kyle and Peter, I've always had my belief system, but I just never had that discussion with you. I love both of you guys, and all people for that matter, I also have very strong religious beliefs. I look up to both of you more than you know, but I'm a conservative, what can I say. It's so hard for me to believe one way, and love people who believe so differently. It's not you two I'm afraid of, I just want to protect the traditional family. I hope this doesn't effect our friendship. I'm sorry this upset you.
Discrimination and seeing so many couples who genuinely love each other as much as straight couples do is a "silver lining"? Every individual has the right to his/her own beliefs (one of many individual rights guaranteed to all Americans without prejudice or discrimination) but not the right to impose their beliefs on other people. I commend you for your religious convictions but your personal beliefs should not dictate how others choose to live their lives, just as others' beliefs do not dictate how you live yours. If a religion said blacks and whites should not marry each other, and 51% of the people agreed with that and passed a law, that law would be stricken down because it violates individuals rights. There is such thing as the tyranny of the majority. No one told you whom you could or could not marry, whom you could not love; you should give everyone else the same right. Marriage laws are a governmental issue - not a church issue. No one expects you to grant gays the right to marry in your churches. This is about equal protection under the law in a country that was founded on diversity, tolerance, acceptance, equality, and basic civil rights granted to each and every person.
