3rd place??? I guess no names were attached, or maybe they felt like giving someone else a chance. The chili looks good too. Tell you what, let's have a cook-off at my house, I'll judge from several of your pies . . .

Rotisserie Chicken and Basil Chili? You've got to be kidding me. Do you want my certificate and Snickers? It says "Most original Chili" My chili contained beans, ground turkey (not even beef - I'm so cheap,) beans, kielbasa, a dozen spices, beans onions, and peppers. Oh, and some barbecue sauce and brown sugar. Super original, especially compared to rotisserie chicken and basil.
You were totally robbed.

Next year YOU should be the judge!

Let me just say that two of my best friends won first prize in both the chili and pie categories and it was rightfully so. Molly's chili with cilantro was awesome, and Courtney's Peanut butter chocolate pie was seriously good. So I was whole-heartedly with the judges on this one. Honestly, with my pie I was just using up things in the freezer so I wasn't expecting anything. 3rd was a nice surprise.

If that took 3rd, what kind of magical pie took 1st! Yikes, you guys must have some fancy cooks, or else they decided that they can't let you win EVERY time! That Chili looks awesome too. I must try!

Oh man, the pie and chile look SOOOOO good. Did the chile turn out to be delicious? If so, I will try it soon!

Maybe they thought you had an unfair advantage being a pastry chef and all, they must have given everyone else a handicap.
Plus, you have to remember, anything chocolate wins first place (remember switching spoons?).

That chili looks intense! I like all the beautiful colors that chili so often lacks. And you have the cool sugar creations on top of your pie. I bet they all tasted to wonderful.
